Last year my sister accidentally formatted her camera memory card while backpacking and lost all her photos. She went into a photo store and the techy was able to restore all the photos she thought she'd lost.
My stupid question: can photos be restored off a memory card despite having been selectively deleted by the owner? I may have wiped a number of photos off my own card without backing them up? (when I thought I had).
And could somebody please recommend a really good English speaking digital camera shop. |

If you haven't already written over your deleted pics or formatted your memory card couple times, you should be able to get restore them. And no, there's no need to go to a camera store and pay for this service. You can do it yourself at home.
All you need is a program that searches for deleted or erased files/pics and restores them. One program that I have used is "O&O UnErase" - there are many just like it - and it has saved me couple of times. Give it a try and tell me if you were able to restore your pictures or not. Good luck! |

cool thanks SeoulFinn, trying some programs now. Will the programs be able to read the card while it's in the camera? I don't have an external memory card reader. |

If your computer sees your camera as an external hard drive, you shouldn't need a card reader. At least my PC's sees attached cameras as hard drives and I can access them (or any USB memory stick, CF cards, etc.) without any problems. |
