So I'm going to Thailand on the 30th of DEC and my friend I'm meeting from Canada says we must have return tickets to enter? is that the case?
I have already bought a one way ticket as I am going to maybe new zealand after.
I don't think it is the case that you need a return ticket.... as what about ppl who want to take a bus to malaysia etc?
Where can I findout for sure?
thanks! |

I've never had a problem buying a one way ticket to Thailand and I've done so more times than I can count. |

I flew from Xiamen (China) to Bangkok. While I had round trip tickets no one ever asked me my intentions - ie - how long I was staying or what my business was.
My passport was stamped and I was in Thailand.
So, my one time experience in going to Thailand was no question about return tickets. |

Hi,
I've been flying back and forth to Thailand since March this year as its obviously the most useful transport hub and the cheapest. They've not asked to see a return ticket once ....Most of the people in Thailand are travellers - Don't worry!! |

It is not Thai immigration that will stop you. It is the airline check-in clerk when you are checking in for the flight to Thailand who will stop you. Many people say 'they never asked to see this', well, the check-in clerk saw it on your ticket, so she/he didn't need to ask. The airline checks because it is them who will have to pay to fly you back if immigration doesn't let you in. But Thai immigration really doesn't care, so it is kind of a catch 22. You could get a Thai visa ahead of time to be really sure. Or check with others who have flown your airline from your point of origin and see if that airline does indeed check. I have been checked at check in from America and Hong Kong. (I carry a cheap ticket from Bangkok to Penang and just keep changing the date then refund it). You are probably OK flying from Seoul, I have never been checked here. But try to get some kind of itenerary or reservation at least to talk you way through it in case the check in counter is a, what's the word, oh yeah, psychopath. |

I wasnt flying from Seoul. I have never had an onward or return ticket any time Ive been in Thailand. Its good to be spontaneous sometimes. No airline desk ever asked to see an onward ticket either.
(I've only been in Korea a month. Too expensive to fly to Thailand from here and no holiday - unfortunately!!)
Anyhow up to you ...you wont get in trouble for not having a return or onward ticket, I assure you. Do whatever you feel happy doing. Some people like playing it safe. |
