I have the truly awesome task of recruiting some counselors/teachers for a few upcoming English camps Can some people give me an idea regarding typical compensation?
An example.
The day before, take a 4 hour bus ride, you get the condo/hotel room for the night, the next day start up around 10 am and the camp runs for 3 days.
Obviously travel and accomodations are paid for, this is for 1st and 2nd year uni students (if it matters) and its supposed to be all activities and conversations, little or no direct instruction, watching movies, competitions, socializing, etc..
I was thinking between 400,000 and 500,000 won base, higher for desireable candidates, am I in the right ballpark?
Thanks in advance! |

i am sure you will get some stupid answers, but that sounds about right. maybe just post an ad and see how the replies come, if you only get garbage teachers, then you know you need to up it a bit.
btw, when is your camp? i am interested in a shorter camp like that... |

For 20 somethings the rate is about right (for 6 hour days).
If the days are longer (more than 7x50 minute contact periods) then you are a bit shy.
If the "teacher" has to spend lots of extra time to create all the resources needed for the "activities" then you are definately a bit on the shy side.
If it is just 3 days of conversations from 10am - 6pm then you are in the ballpark. |
