I love hearing stories about lazy teachers, but (luckily?) I haven't had too much experience:
1) Right now, a teacher is getting her students to mark all of her tests. It COULD be seen as a useful exercise, but I don't think that the motivation behind it is congruous with a learning experience.
2) About 3 years ago, in my hagwon, my Korean coteacher didn't test students for 3 months (instead of monthly tests) and just made up test scores. Her students showed vast improvement.
3) Had a foreign coteacher who made colouring sheets everyday for the first month....for semi intelligent middle school kids. |

I had a colleague who just took a lesson plan of mine instead of making his own......oh wait, I've already whined about that. |

I equate making lesson plans to computer programming. If it's been done once, by someone in the world, why on earth would you write the same thing from scratch? Save your time to tailor to your needs, like a programmer just goes through existing code, to tweak for his needs. |

Co-worker at my last uni (same chap as in the porn thread) rates up there with the laziest.
Twelve 2-hour classes weekly. Each one starts about 20-25 minutes late, whenever he decides to stroll in from the pub. Followed by 20-25 minutes of playing a tape and saying "repeat after me". Then class is dismissed.
The fact that he has been repeatedly asked to re-sign with this NATIONAL uni, confirms they don't want quality teachers, just idjits that kiss bum and allow admin to pad their pockets with the teachers money. |

because each class is different and different teachers have different styles. What works for me might not work for you. Plus if you plan it yourself you will know the material better and teach it better.
Having said that, I regularly re-use lesson plans from previous semesters with a tweak here or there. |

When I am feeling lazy I just tell my co-teacher that I am going to review the dialogues in the middle school textbook. She's always game with that because she doesn't have to lift a finger the entire class. |

While I work each month to create evaluations/report cards (no more, thanks to discovering Esltool.com) a Korean co-teacher simply goes to her last evaluation online, changes a word or two and pushes print. I wish I could pull that off! |

Maybe you spend so much wasted time on making lesson plans from scratch, you skimmed over the bolded text. |

Public school laziness is disgusting to observe. No surprise whatsoever that Korean families must fork out big bucks to hagwons, if my school is a typical example.
Even more than 5 mins after classes are supposed to start, kids are still all stood up, fucking around in a teacher-less classroom. Korean teachers dordle - like they do on bloody sidewalks (HURRY UP YOU fuckers !!) - to class, no passion, no energy, they simply don't give a damn.
My problem is....I care. Lazy co-teachers effect me directly, not just when co-teaching, but also when they teach by themselves.
Example: one of my CTs is a young, skinny, weak, soft, timid, bitch. Kids just don't have any respect for her. Classes that have many students in who actually love English just walk all over her and these classes become impossible to control after having had her teach them for 6 months or more. Give kids a centimeter and they'll take a fucking kilometer. We were the same when we were 15 years old. Overly-strict teachers suck too, but soft pathetic young women who are actually scared of kids, especially disgusting boys, are ruinous to education. They destroy good classes. They singlehandedly turn great classes of enthusiastic kids into dreadful, unruly classes. My classes are fun, but lazy Korean bitches make it very difficult.
My male co-teacher is a hardcore Korean - very traditionalist. He says public school in Korea has been destroyed by soft, young women teachers, treading water, no passion, no idea how to teach, frankly not much in their heads other than air and perhaps cotton wool. I'm not sexist usually, and there are many excellent women teachers (my worst and my best CTs are both women) but I agree entirely with him here. These pathetically weak warriors need to be removed, not even allowed to enter, the battlefield. They've no right to be called teachers. They are useless individuals, no matter how nice and sweet they are as people. They are destructive to education....standing there, sitting there, doing nothing, not helping, like wet lettuces with their fucking eyelid surgery and their fucking white make-up pasted all over their ugly fucking faces, wishing they were in the teachers' room fucking around on the internet.
*beep* *beep* *beep* *beep* !!!! |

I like the fact that when the bell rings to start class, that it's just a signal for the teacher to start to gather their things together in the office, or finish making those 40 copies. Class actually begins about 10 minutes after the bell. I used to hate it, but then got to thinking, "Gee, I guess I'm not gonna change these people, just count on a 40-minute class." The typed schedule is little more than an abstract suggestion.
So count me among the proud, lazy teachers. This post is, in fact, cutting into my afternoon nap in the Teacher's Lounge. |

You're right!
The trick, it seems, it to not give a flying *beep*! |
