|
|
Now that I have a Win xp pro eng version but when i check for compatability it says the language is diff from the installation cd.
Of course it is, because I want to reformat the computer because its operating system is in Korean. Any ideas as to how I can fix the language problem so that the pc will boot up using the cd to
ws setup?
The bios has been changed to use the cd rom as the boot up first but cannot get past the language problem.
Any serious replies appreciated. |

You will have to format the hard drive and do a clean install.
You will need to enter the BIOS of the computer on booting. This is done by pressing the "del" key as the computer starts up. Before doing this, ensure that the CD is in the drive and you have your serial number at hand.
When in the BIOS, look for the "boot" menu and right arrow over to that tab.
Change the "boot device order" to have the CD-ROM in the first position. This will boot the computer from the CD and not the hard drive, where your current install of Korean Windows resides.
Go to the "exit" tab, and choose "save changes and exit".
*In the BIOS, "enter" is to make a choice or see a menu of options, the 4 arrows are for moving about the tabs and menus, "esc" is 'back' and hitting "esc" when not in a tab menu will take you to the exit screen.*
The computer will reboot and not load into Windows, but load from the CD. Wait until all of the busy stuff is done, then click through the choices. You will want to format your C: drive It will ask you where you want to install Windows and if you want to do a format first. A "quick format" is all you will need.
It should be pretty painless from that point on. Just click through the options and follow the instructions on the screen.
Remember that you will lose all data from the drive when formatting, so backup anything you need onto CD or something before you do this. I hope you have a CD burner and know how to use it. You can also upload anything you want to save (up to I think 300MB) onto a web storage service. If you choose this option, you will need to gather all files you want to save and make a compressed folder containing them all, then upload that as one file.
I hope I haven't gone past what you know in this post. If so, reply with any questions and many othjers here as well as I can be of service. |

I guess one thing to note is that when booting from the CD, one must "press any key to boot from CD". If one doesn't do this, it will just load into Windows on the hard drive.
Maybe that's the problem? |

Nothing, mate. You are one of the brains around here, so you could also lend a hand. That's all I meant. That and my spelling mistake, or rather typing mistake, was funny. |
