Whether you agree with his politics or not, I think you have to admit the guy is a strange duck.

Roh muses aloud about leaving Uri and presidency
Setbacks, plunging popularity revive a tactic he's used before
November 30, 2006 ㅡ Sounding despondent and frustrated, President Roh Moo-hyun went out of his way yesterday to ensure that the nation knew of his woes.
With pool reporters present in the first few moments of a cabinet meeting, Mr. Roh told the group, "I hope that I won't be the first president who cannot complete his term." He sighed and added, "I'll do my best."...
Mr. Roh's public show of despondency was not a first. In the past, beginning only three months after his inauguration, he has wondered aloud if he were up to the job, and has also hinted at giving up his party membership. He has also offered, in effect, to surrender some of his political powers to the Grand National Party in the form of a "coalition cabinet" in which the opposition would be allowed to name some ministers...
The minor opposition parties called Mr. Roh's comments a threat. Park Yong-jin, the Democratic Labor Party spokesman, called his expression of hope of completing his term a "de facto threat to the public." He continued, "What's really scary is the illogic and irresponsibility of the president to speak of resigning." Lee Sang-yul, the spokesman of the Democratic Party, called Mr. Roh's remarks "irresponsible" and "threatening."

Not much of a threat. Based on the latest polls, only 8.8% of Koreans think he's doing a good job. So, you could say that as much as 91.2% of South Koreans would be happy if he quit. |

Brinksmanship. He's hoping to shore up some sympathy.
A: You're doing a terrible job.
B: *Lets shoulders slump* Well, if you really feel that way, then I'll go.
A: No, wait! Don't go. You're not really doing such a poor job after all ...
*B wakes up from dream* |

Hes a pathetic fool. Even Bush, as bad and incompetent as he is, doesnt ADMIT to the fact that he is an incompetent fool not up to the task of running a country. yesterday, my view that Noh is one of the worst presidents in Korean history has been cemented. I hope he quits. No one would cry over it. He has 8% support and thats dropping every day. |

I'd like this clarified too. From a vague reference I came across, it sounded like there would be an 'acting president' until a special election was called, but that was not really clear.
Does anyone really know? |

It's common for leaders to have policy failures. But does Roh have any successes? Foreign or domestic? After 4 years? |

The Prime Minister becomes Acting President, and in the case of Roh resigning, Korea would have it's first-ever woman (acting) president, current Prime Minister Han Myeong-sook. Of course you all know her. What's that? You haven't the foggiest? What are you, ign'int fools? She's only one of the worlds top seven women leaders, sez Marie Claire.

Ugh... feels like one "Roh year" equals three normal years... in Hell.
G.W. Bush enjoys a higher approval rating in France than Roh Moo-hyun does in his own country. .... just to give you a rough idea... |

That's a stunning observation. It makes me wonder why there aren't lynch mobs outside Chong Wa-Dae.

The only things that come to mind are that he didn't get convicted when he was impeached a couple of years ago and he did get that Commission thingie to look into the past. |

I loved there was a recent survey where people were polled regarding Roh's greatest accomplishment. Something like 60% said "nothing". He seemed to come in with a great amount of super star flash... the guy who was going to take on dirty ol' America. He got his eyes made round. And that's about it. |
