Looking for a new homepage. I like to start with a customizable page that has headlines and a whack of other options, like who doesn't?
Sort of like My Yahoo, except NOT My Yahoo.
I need to switch from My Yahoo because those bastards are also *beep* ing up the settings and it's now a royal pain in the ass to start up firefox and have frickin USA today Yahoo entertainment highlights "Kfed goes on Oprah, Dr. Phil approves!" and that sort of shite.
Any ideas?
Oh, and not My MSN either. |

You're on DSL. It won't be a super high volume or bandwidth sight. Run it from your PC. Lots of good webserver software out there and most of it is easy to configure.

Ttompatz am I missing a hidden message?
I'm not affiliated in any way with the Bulsajo taekwondo, and I'm on cable...
I'm looking for a 'homepage' (i.e. start page) for my browser rather than site hosting for a business (which I have, but it's not Bulsajo.com).
SH, totally forgot that Google now does this, thanks! |

Sorry, I didn't check to see if it was a real link... so I just wrote www."your-user-name.com".
I misunderstood that you wanted a new gateway/portal as your opening page in your browser, I thought you wanted to host a new home page for yourself... rather than use a host... |

www.netvibes.com
www.pageflakes.com
Both almost totally customizable in appearance and content(your own rss feeds even). I prefer Netvibes. |

OK, gotcha, your post had me totally confused.
I'm loving the Google page already but will check out the netvibes. I can't believe I wasted so much time trying to keep that crappy MyYahoo page going... |

firefox lets you set multiple homepages. i have google.com/ig as well as 6 other sites including some of my own web sites.
i think that's a pretty good way to go.
also, why don't you build your own portal? an online directory of sites you frequently visit. it's not difficult. sites like http://del.icio.us will do it for you ... then you can add that to your homepage group too.
the possibilities are endless! |
