|
|
I'm planning to apply for the working holidaymaker visa for the UK soon. Once I get the application sent off the British embassy in Seoul will arrange an interview with me.
I wonder, has anybody experienced this interview? I'm curious about what they might ask, their general disposition, the length of the interview, etc..
I also wonder if I have enough money. Of course they ask for proof of your financial status, so I'll send off my bank statement. But they don't give any indication of what kind of figure they might be looking for. I don't know if they want $5000 or $15 000. (My magic number is exactly between those two and I'm worried this won't be enough)...actually, I'm nervous about EVERYTHING!
Should I be?? |

Don't know where you're from, but NZers require 2000 pounds to enter the UK on the 2 year working visa. I guess it would be the same for most. |

I needed 4K Australian. Just get a bank balance to send to them before you buy the ticket over. I never had to do an interview but. Probably just a formality. |

Are you sure this 'interview' is not just the couple of minutes it takes to hand over your forms and show ID? Generally this is what they mean by an interview. It's not like you're going to be sitting down and discussing petty crimes you committed in 1988.
I never had an interview. |

I did it about 10 years ago (from NZ).
There was no interview at all, and all I did was send the embassy a bank statement showing NZ$6000 (approx GBP2000).
But they may have tightened up the process somewhat since then.
Have a great time, and don't forget to see more than just London! |

No. I'm not sure. That's why I'm asking for people's experiences. I'm just going by what the website says about the visa process. Once your application is received the embassy will call you for an "interview". |

The embassy website says you have to submit "evidence of your financial status". There is no indication of what kind of figure they have in mind.
I have to submit my bank statements and pay slips from the last six months.
I think the whole process is more complicated than it used to be. It sounds like you all had a pretty breezy time of getting the visa. There's a whole list on the embassy website of what you have to do. It's quite a bit of stuff to get together - letter from boss about your job and pay, pay slips, bank statements, evidence of accommodation arrangements (a list of ALL places you've planned to stay, including hotel bookings, friends, etc..), evidence of flight arrangements, etc.. You can see for yourself:

I don't expect to see much of London at all. I'm going to my boyfriend's hometown, Preston. So I'll be spending most of my time up north, near Manchester. And I'll be visiting my friend in Scotland from time to time. |

What do you mean by "2 year working visa"?
Maybe we're not talking about the same thing....
The WHM visa is meant for mainly travelling, but part time work is allowed. Your purpose is not supposed to be work.
Sorry if that seems picky. I'm not TRYING to be. Just maybe we're not talking about the same thing???? |

Several people have written that they "needed" X amount of NZ or Australian dollars.
How did you get these figures??
The only information I could get was that they want to see that you have enough money to support yourself for a couple of months without working, buy a plane ticket home, enough for a medical emergency, etc..
I couldn't get any actual numbers. Hence, my original post.
Perhaps things have changed.
Anyway, the stated amounts are pretty low. So I guess I should be ok. |

hmm...it should say on the embassy website how much cash you need in your bank account....I can't look at it via the link you pasted, for some unknown reason.... |
