I don't know why my school needs to start each Monday by YELLING the announcement over the school intercom. It's a very stressfiul way to begin the week. Then the loud music follows the announcements. Then a minute's silence during which I try to pull my nerves together. Then the yelling starts again.

Land of Morning Calm you say? Not Monday mornings at my elementary school.

I used to wake up each morning and play loud music to get me going. One of the best is "Wake Up" by Rage Against the Machine. Maybe this is the same concept your school is working with, but I'm guessing the music is different.

On the flipside, my girlfriend hated my morning music routine. She wanted to listen to things like Allyson Krauss, which made me want to go back to sleep, not get up.

Maybe you and my ex-girlfriend would make a good couple. If you are ever in the Rocky Mountains, PM me, I'll hook you up with her number.

In my last hagwon the manager or secretaries would yell on the PA system non-stop between classes. We'd only have 5 mins to get to the staffroom and sit and try to regroup for the next class. But from the second the bell rang to the second the bell rang for the next class all we could hear was muffled fast screaming. It was so very nerve-wracking.

Now, I don't know Korean very well (and I doubt even the kids could understand it, it was like a NYC subway PA) but, really, what's that important? And what could you possibly be saying for 5 straight mins 8 times a day? That's 40 mins! A whole other class!

I asked my supervisor once and she said it was just to let the kids know that they were still being watched and under control. And, besides, its a school! Schools are loud! I told her, yes 'loud' not insane alysums.

I quickly corrected myself.
