I've gathered a pile of PS2 titles to send to the nephews back home... but a sudden growing doubt is worrying me...
The kids have modded PS2s, so regional coding shouldn't be a problem. However, the TV format here in Korea is NTSC while in Australia it's PAL..
Does this mean I have a pile of games to sell, and more christmas shopping to do, or can this be accomodated by a mod chip??? |

I ran into the same problem at home. Brought home over 100 PS2 games. The games that are only PAL will not play on the NTSC Sony sets in my kids house. (USA)
All that shows is lots of quick lines. In the US it's hard to find NTSC / PAL tvs.
They do sell CONVERTERS that will change the PAL to NTSC so the games will play on USA NTSC tvs. Saw them for about $20 us on the Internet.
Some modded PS2 chips have controls that can change the gameplay to NTSC or PAL but you have to know how to activate it. Got my PS2 in China and had one modded in China and the dude didn't speak English so I never figured out how to flip this switch and never bothered to open the case to figure out what type of chip is inside.
I'm sure there is a way to bring up the chip specs on the screen but i don't know it. |
