|
|
I have a problem displaying korean subtitles in the smi format. The subs keep showing up as strange circles and characters like you'd see on a webpage if korean character encoding isn't supported.
I'm using GOM player and the subtitles do register and there is a Korean option there, they just show up weird.
I find this confusing because my OS (Win XP pro) does have Korean language support. I can correctly view Korean characters within the OS e.g. folder names etc. When I open the smi file with notepad, the characters are all weird.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

I had the same problem recently when I had Gom player downloaded from an English site. I went to ipop.co.kr and downloaded the Korean version and subs have been good since then. I can't explain it and not sure what version you are running but this worked for me and maybe it will work for you too? It may be a little harder to adjust setting with the Korean version but I guess take the good with the bad. |

Alternately, you can do this.
Start->Control Panel->Regional and Language Options->Advanced
Set the "Language for Non-Unicode Programs" to Korean, and you will be able to use the English version of Gom player to display subtitles properly. |

Thunndarr,
Awesome. That did it. Now I'm watching Korean subtitles within my English version of GOM. Perfect.
Thank you! |
