Does anyone know anything about KidScope in Gangman?

What about EWAS-Walkerhill?

Any advice would be good. After reading what everyone on this forum has said about hakwons in Korea...I really think twice about all these great "offers."

Also, what are some good recruiting agencies? I'm so worried that I'm going to get effed over...people seem to have a lot more negative things to say..than positive.

Shocked

Yeah, people can be pretty negative here on the ol' eslcafe, but don't be scared. There's lots of good jobs here, even if there are lots of lousy ones too. Just be careful!
I've never heard anything about the two schools you mentioned, but "kidprobe" or whatever sounds like a punchline from a rude south-park joke, so i'd automatically be very inclined to work for them. I like school names that make me laugh.
Seriously though you should get the emails of the previous teachers at those schools and see what they have to say. If the employers WON'T give the contact info then perhaps they are up to something. Unless they are new schools, and have had only one or two foreigners in, and they sucked; anyway, it's a definite alarm bell if they refuse to put you in touch with your predecessors.
A lot of teachers get lonesome and burnt being over here, and run off home to their mams and paps, so in a sense I can understand why a lot of schools are kinda defensive and jumpy. But KNOW YER RIGHTS, dude, and don't let 'em stomp ya just cause yer a newb. Dave's ESL is a Font of Information. And occasionally, Misinformation too.

My advice is talk to MORE THAN ONE of the current teachers at each school via e-mail when the boss is NOT watching over their shoulder.

If they only let you talk to one teacher at each school, then pass.

Ask specifically about:

+Pay - do they really pay overtime. Do they avoid it by NOT giving credit for public holidays? Get the rate settled.
+Classes - how many, how long are they and what is the schedule really like.
+Pension and medical - do they really pay into it? Does the foreign teacher have the medical plan booklet?
+Vacations - how, when, how long and who decides? This is often a very big area of contention between teachers and hakwons.
+lunches - they are not considered a work hour? do you have to spend it with the kids?
+airfare to Korea - is it prepaid - in the contract it should be waived after 6 months.
+Housing - what is it like. What are the extra costs - your free apartment could cost you more than 150k per month.
+Quality of life issues - proximity to shopping, banking, etc.
