Where do I go in the Bundang area for food and home stuff? Samsung Plaza is of course insane and the EMart near JeongJa station is also pretty expensive. Just got here 3 days ago and can't find any reasonable prices. I'm sometimes near Suji, should I look for a place closer to there? Thanks in advance...

There's a covered market right outside Ori station. It looks like a factory. All on the ground level. Reasonably priced groceries and household stuff. Don't expect anything western though.

That would be the Nong hyup market.

Its cheaper to eat out at a restaurant. Weekly groceries can set u back a pretty penny.

That's it. Nong Hyup market.

I thought it was the cheapest place for groceries in Bundang. I'm sure somebody will come up with somewhere else.

I never went back to the E-mart in Jeonja after Summer 2004. I put 4 small-medium sized potatoes in a bag then went to the price-sticker ajumma. 5000 won!!! For 4 potatoes!!! I just laughed, ripped open the bag and dumped them back on the shelf. The price of fruit and veg was very high that Summer but I thought that was over the top.

There is no emoticon to represent my face at that time. I will have to recreate the moment next time we meet. You could give me motivation by asking me to chip in ship-man won for some sam-gyup-sal.

What would you do? Take the cooked samgyupsal up to the serving counter and hand it back to them?

As far as the topic, there's a medium-sized grocery store not too far from Sunae station. Only went there a few times, and it pretty much stocks typical Korean grocer stuff, but it was alright. Just take the overpass from the plaza going away from the river and cross it, then keep walking until you find some Homeplus Mini or something like that.

It may very well be gone by now. It was ghetto, even more so than the Kim's Club was.

No. I would roundly slap the samgyupsal around Flotties cheeks while ordering him to open and close his mouth so as to replicate my favorite James Brown bassline. Biatch!

E-mart is too expensive? Interesting.

Anyways, next to Seohyeon station, there is a LotteMart. I find the prices there to be reasonable. Also, if you go to YaTap you can find a Carrefour and Kim's Club (Carrefour has been bought out, though, so it might not be Carrefour anymore) anyways, both of those places offer decent prices as well.

As for the potatoes, where in Korea can you get cheap potatoes? I've found that they are expensive everywhere.

It's still there. The GF and I shop there almost everyday, it's great and has decent prices. Definitely not the biggest grocery store in the world, but it does the trick. It is cheaper than Lotte Mart and definitely cheaper than E-Mart.

Do a little bit of price comparison before you buy. Some things are less expensive in different stores. I have one shopping list for Kim's Club and one for Emart.
