Yesterday one of my coworkers asked me if I could do a personal favour for her. One of her friends is taking a test to become an English teacher, and needs a tutor to help her prepare for three weeks. I said I'd be willing to consider it.

Anyway, she gave me the details a bit later. Two two-hour classes per week, at 20 000 won per hour. As soon as I heard this, I knew I'd never do it nor find anyone to do it. I politely turned it down, then told her once it was off the table it was a ridiculous amount of money to offer. Her response? "I said it was a personal favour."

Doing a bit of mental math, I worked this out to a personal favour worth 240 000 won, had I charged the more standard 40 000/hour fee. I guess the personal favour she wanted was for me not to be insulted by such a sodomic offer.

Anyway, she didn't bring it up again. Problem solved. I don't come on Dave's for personal advice.*

*well, sometimes.

Like the bottom of my wife's foot if I agree to spend four hours a week alone with a strange girl.

I wouldn't consider 40 000 to be an insult. I still wouldn't have done it, truth be told. I'm not interested in making a bit of extra spending money by sacrificing my free time.

It stopped being a personal favor when money and other people were involved.

You did the right thing man.

If she was truly asking for a personal favor, money would never have been mentioned.

I love your response though.....bottom of your wifes foot....lol...
