How picky should I be re: contracts?

How many offers did you receive before you made a commitment?

I had the perfect job offer in Suwon a week ago, but the school backed out at the last minute and hired someone already in Korea (after I sent them all my documents - original diploma, transcripts, photos, the contract, etc.). Now I can't stand the thought of accepting anything less than what I was previously offered - a six month contract with one-way airfare, 2.2 million won/month, free single housing, 10 days paid vacation, etc.

Am I just being too damn picky? Some lady just offered me a position in Ulsan, but that really doesn't seem like the sexiest place to live. I'd much rather live some place like Changwon, Busan, or Seoul, but there aren't that many schools willing to hire someone for just six months. Am I just acting like a spoiled brat, or should I keep looking until I find another sweet offer?

Any suggestions welcome.

Ahhh...you're gonna have a problem applying for a new position anytime soon if your documents have mysteriously vanished, been mislaid, got lost in the mail or have been sold... Shocked

I have backup copies of everything (basically two original diplomas) and numerous official sealed transcripts, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem I don't think. And I should be able to get those documents back before too long. Hopefully.

Ulsan is a very good city to teach in. There is a large ex-pat community and most of them get along quite well. It is only a 45 minute ride to Busan. If you would live in Suwon, then Ulsan is not worse. I hated Suwon, though I was only there 1 month. I spent about 6 months in Ulsan and loved every minute of it. The pay is usually lower in Ulsan though and it is inconvenient if you really desire going to Seoul.

If the contract is almost as good as the Suwon job, I would take it. Good luck.
