hey all,

i know that this has been a recurring thread, even started by me, but now i'm trying to be a real nazi about making time to study french.

i know that there is a recognized, sort of "craigslist" site for language groups - my girlfriend found one for spanish here in seoul. she hasn't got back to me and it's on my mind, so does anyone have an idea?

i know there was a french group here in seoul but it had become defunct...

any information from anyone? once again sorry for the re-thread but i must continue to rethread until the "search" function's accuracy becomes more functional than babelfish's translations...

Is there a French cultural institute in Seoul? I think there is something , if not that exactly. When I lived in the Czech Rep. , I spent a lot of time and made friends at the institute. Also got cheap, good coffee and REAL chocolate croissantes.....

Does anyone have an info about a French cultural institute...I guess I should just check the embassy site later today?

There is supposedly a "french village" near the Lycee Francais in the Banpo area, near the Express Bus Terminal. I've looked around but never found it. There is a map to the school itself on the web, and I haven't tried looking again since finding the map.

Yes there was a french group on meetup.com, but it's defunct and hasn't gotten started again.

What do you say some of us go out and look for Frenchies perhaps this weekend? We can speak french, badly, and sing some French chrismas carols if there are any. I have no plans for Xmas because my vacation is the first week of january.

Well...here's what we have so far:

http://wiki.galbijim.com/Category:French_language

Although I suspect Wangja would know better, and so would Mont Real but I haven't seen him here forever.

I just checked Francoreen on Cyworld but I don't see any events for this Christmas. I know a French guy that does privates here so anyone can pm me for his phone number.

I can generally comprehend most of what i read. Speaking effectively mind you is a major problem.

For anyone who's interested, Yongsan has a HEAP of French DVDs and many others with subtitles Wink

There is definately one in Seoul. One of the teachers at my school attends once a week. I will ask her for the details. It must be quite popular because one of the French (native) teachers from Incheon university attends.
