I know everyone asks this, but I don't know how to classify korean job ads as credible or not. I have only a bachelors in psych by the way. I have every intention of honoring my contracts even if I hate it. I just want an employer willing to honor his/her end (at least to a good degree).
Any advice on how to classify the classefieds?
Or can anyone recommend an employer that honors contracts? |

Try to get a pubic school job.
Otherwise best way is topost the contract / and or the ad on here and get people to check it out.
One of the VERY BEST things you can do when considering a job offer - and this can't be stressed enough - is to make sure they let you speak to one of the current teachers who works there, over the phone. this is better than email, as you can tell how they really feel by the sound of their voice etc.... |

Do public schools advertise online?
Side topic: I was planning on going to Japan to try to find work first. If I can't find work/run out of money, is it easier to get korean work from Japan?
Anyone have any strong reservations about my plan? I only have a b.a. and very little teaching experience? |

It's hard to get a job in Japan without a visa. No one wants to go through the hassle of getting you one. I would suggest trying AEON (www.aeonnet.co.jp or .com, I might be wrong, google it). THey are the best of the big 4 (not that bad for a big chain company at all actually, though there are many better jobs out there). |

I've heard from other posters that if you are a native english speaker with a degree and...well, breathing, you can find work if you're in Japan. |

I am talking about a job you would want It's close to true, but I don't want you to go there thinking you will get a job just because of that. The job situation is actually deteriorating there. Some jobs are actually no offering 220000 yen + 30000 yen a month "no sick days and performance" bonus (what a load of bs). And the rents seems to be staggering up on their apartments while the 250000 is staying pretty much the same. There are other things, but it's not quite as easy as it once was, even if you do settle somewhat on a barely ok job. Factor in no income and living in Japan (not the cheapest of places) for the job search and ... |

I can tell you that in China at one school i was considering to teach at the FAO ( foreign affairs officer) brought to the house of one of the teachers.
I asked him some pointed questions about the school and he answered in a positive way, rolled his eyes at the chick and told me to call him later.
he had nothing good to say about the school in our private conversation. |

thx for the advice.
Although, as long as I can find work to pay monthly expenses, a small student loan payment, travel modestly once or twice and save just a little, I'll be fine!
Another thing, poor in America or poor in Japan; at least one aspect of culture shock won't get me! |
