Saturday I will fly to the Philippines for a few weeks. It is always a dilemma for me. I only ever take carry-on baggage. As you know, the Philippines is a hot tropical climate. Here it is cold and will get colder. I don't want to use precious space on winter attire, nor do I want to lug a coat around in the Philippines.
I think it is going to be really cold waiting for the bus. |

Oh suck it up!!!!!!!!!!! Wait your 15 minutes for the bus freezing with thoughts of a tropical beach keeping you warm.
I just froze my butt of at the bus stop knowing that I would be somewhere very hot, very soon.

| I have left my coat in long-term luggage storage at the airport in that situation. Is that still an option? |

| Last winter, Asiana was offering free coat storage for those going to warm countries. I don't know airline you're flying, but you could call them and find out. |

I had the same problem last winter going from Korea to the Philippines.
I just piled on the shirts, and wore long pants for that. I also threw on a scarf that I didn't mind carting all over the Philippines at the bottom of my bag.
Another option would be to do your spring cleaning early and bring some sweater you haven't worn in years to the airport and ditch at the airport. Or buy a ajoshi jacket for 5000 won (if they exist that low).. and ditch that. |

| There's long term storage at Incheon. It's in the far upper-right corner of the check-in terminal, and costs around 3,000/day last time I checked. Kinda pricey, but better than freezing your buns off or having to carry heavy clothing around in hot weather. |

In 2004, my family went from Edmonton Alberta (in January) to Manzanillo Mexico....
Going to was
-22C to +27C
That was pretty bad....but when we went home.....we arrived fairly late in evening.
It was
+34C to -37C
In all honesty, it didn't bother me that much...I thought it would have felt colder but it made no difference.
If it's a big deal, put a big heft coat into a bad and, at the airport, put it into the baggage storage area (ps folks: Does Incheon [and Gimhae] have those?) |
