				Hi,

The part on my laptop where the power adapter goes into my computer is loose. Thus, I have to angle the cord in such a way and keep it completely still. And even then it sometimes won't get power from the cord. I'm currently in Canada and have gone to a couple of repair shops that have quoted me anywhere from 200-300$ to fix it.

I will be in Korea shortly, so does anyone know if this procedure is any cheaper over there? The reason its so expensive is that they have to open it all up and re-attact the part to the motherboard. The various people I've spoken with here say its not an uncommon problem.

Anyone have experience in Seoul with this? |

i had a similar problem with my laptop this past year, though it turned out to be a problem with the mobo. cost 200 bucks in Seoul. i went to a place in the Yongsan electronics market, though there are probably other places to go to. might be eaiser to get it fixed there though, considering the language barrier when you get here. |

seriously, if it only needs to be reattached, I would say download the schematic for it and do it yourself. A few months ago, I took apart my laptop and fixed it then sold it. It was much easier than what I had anticipated it to be.

Once you take it apart, if you see that the piece is broken (where it is supposed to attach), I'd say superglue it to save you the $300. |

				Thanks for the replies.

I tried taking it apart but its hard to get at that exact part, I'm sure you know. By the time I took out a dozen screws, unhinged the screen and moved around some wires I was still looking at at least twice as much effort to get at it. And I wasn't sure if I could even fix it once I got there. I don't really have the right tools anyway.

I thought it would be a half hour 50$ process, but I guess nothing is that easy. Now I know how my friends with cars feel when something suddenly breaks and they don't have money to fix it. |
