So, I guess this is it, the death of multiculturalism as official government policy.
Quote: |
Tony Blair formally declared Britain's multicultural experiment over yesterday as he told immigrants they had ''a duty" to integrate with the mainstream of society.
In a speech that overturned more than three decades of Labour support for the idea, he set out a series of requirements that were now expected from ethnic minority groups if they wished to call themselves British.

Never mind that it took government flunkies 30+ years to figure out what I figured out the very day I was explained this horrendous idea (my truth is as true as your truth? All cultures are equally valid/good? Really?), but what exactly are they going to do next? What psychotic idea will the ninnys think of next?
And, all this talk about assimilation is extremely American of them, isn't it. I was taught, very clearly, that the American idea of assimilation is ignorant and racist and undoubtedly worse than the glorious ideal of multicult. I guess the Americans were right.
But, most importantly, what will be the long-term consequences of this experiment? Maybe none?
Congratulations UK. I hope Trudeaupia will follow your lead. |
