|
|
Hi, I have an interview coming up at a university where I'm to deliver a 10 minute demo lesson. Can anyone give me some tips or suggestions to make it a successful event? I have a week or so to come up with something. I am not sure of the topic I will choose, but I plan on briefly covering what was did last lesson and and at the end introduce what we will be doing next time. I guess what I'm mainly looking for are some ideas on topics. What do these guys want to hear? Thanks |

Ice-breaker
the demo lesson will most likely be with students who don't know each other and will definitely not know you. Ice-breakers tend to be dynamic energy creators which will look good to those observing you.
Whatever handouts you use, make them yourself. Even if you are using something from a commerically produced book, lay it out yourself and print it in color. If you do this you will definitely stand out above the others interviewing for the position.
Dress sharp, smile, don't eat anything that will give you gas, make sure you don't drink too much coffee just before the interview as it will likely enhance any nervousness you may have.
Good luck. |

That sounds good. The interview will probably be for 5-8 Korean professors who teach in the English department, so no students. |

I prepared a portfolio of different activities I created ( note: created, not copied ) that I brought along to the interview and demo lesson. Because the demo lesson was so short, I wanted them to have the full picture of what I was capable of, and thought that making a portfolio might help do that. |
