| I have heared conflicting information regarding this. A recruiter told me it is not needed if you are going from a hagwon to a public school, but if you are going from hagwon to hagwon then you need to do it. I was trying to sort things out in immigration. My hagwon closed down, and I was trying to figure out if I had to do a visa or not. The official made it seem as if I didn't have to, but I can't speak Korean. I don't have a letter of release, because my boss is trying to play hard ball and extort money from a recruiter or school before agreeing to give me my last pay and hasn't done anything to help cut my visa. |

Sorry to hear that your old school is giving you such a hard time...
The recruiter was right. When you go from a hagwon to a public school then you do not need to do a visa run... HOWEVER, when I went through the process, a rep from my old job and a rep from my new job had to go to immi with me and fill out some paperwork for the transfer - not sure exactly how that would work out if you do not have a letter of release and are being jerked around by your old boss.
(wow, that wasn't really much help in the end, was it) |
