For all those people who say a recruiter is just there to get you a job and then take their 1million won, let's remember that not all recruiters are like that. My recruiter, for example, has invited its foreign teachers to a meal in Daejeon in a week and a half to say thanks (free pick-up and return included). They're also always on hand to offer advice etc.

i've never even thought to talk to my recruiter since they placed me. they have seemed pretty irrelevant since i stepped off the plane. I mean, whatever grievance you have is just a weird inconvenience to them. Their sole objective is to place you.

I used to be a real estate agent, which is the exact same job as recruiter. If somebody called me up after I put them into an apartment, I would sigh and give them somebody else's number. I don't think it is the recruiters job to make sure you have a great time in Korea. Only to get you whatever job they are trying to get rid of.

Right now, I'm pretty happy with my recruiter. Very kind...helpful. I'm hoping that he will be the same when I'm on the other side of the pond......

Meh. I read like every single post on here about recruiters, and signed up for a few that were said to be the "better" ones. One keeps offering me jobs with like 12 hour work days for 2.0 million won, or jobs with NO vacation days (because apparently wanting more than just weekends off isn't fair to your co-workers), etc. I know it's up to me to decide if a job is good or not, but I don't think I wanna be dealing with someone who tells me that I shouldn't be asking for more than 2.0 million and pressures me to sign because that is the only school that hiring right now. Riiiiight.

The other recruiters haven't contacted me since I filled out their online form or e-mailed my resume and photo to them almost 2 weeks ago, even though I've expressed interest in specific jobs they have listings for.

I guess I'm just frustrated at how long it's taking. I'm ready NOW. And I guess I'm just jealous of those who found a good recruiter. Laughing
