Does anyone teach this book? If so, what are your feelings regarding its quality? Apparently the author has lived in the US for 35 years, but the book uses many questionable vocabulary words, such as"horse tail" instead of "pony tail," "paprika" instead of " green bell pepper," to name but a few. The reason I bring this up is that when I talked about my concerns with the Korean teachers at my school, they told me I was wrong and that the author is a genius who has lived in the US for 35 years. They got so defensive and basically told me that I don't know what I am talking about.

How would you react if you were in their shoes? Your a foreiner who doesn't know anything about the "Korean Education System" and should never question teaching methods/materials. This is a mindset I've ecountered, and it sounds like you did. Take it with a grain of salt, and resume work on Monday.

The question was directed at other Foreign( not forein )teachers of English, not too you. ( I assume the troll was Korean, and he cant even spell a simple word, he also has the Korean habit of butting into conversations that are not his) The OP has a very professional question which I can relate to because I use this book in my classes.

I like music and some of the music in the series is really good. Some is not, and they have put 4 and a quarter worth of notes in a 4/4 bar. Genius at work! There are so many corrections I need to point out to my students it is sickening. The book is full of grammar errors. "Koreans really know grammar, better than you foreigners, but we just can't speak very well." "We can read and write ( ha ha) , but we just cant speak. " Anyone ever tell these Einsteins that speaking is very much connected to writing ability?

The guy supposedly has a PHD and lived in the US for so long. Why is his English SO POOR?

English is a Foreign Language in Korea. It needs to use textbooks for EFL, not ESL , and they need to be produced by competent, native speakers of English.

The generalization about Koreans wasn't called for regicide, and it spoke volumes about your immaturity. I encourage other forum members not to follow in regicides footsteps. Furthermore, I've encountered the same attitude as you have meangradin. I wrote from the mindset of Korean Teachers I've worked with in the past whove thought, Since youre a foreigner you dont know anything about Korean Teaching methods and you should teach our books regardless (some of the books were terrible!). I encountered resistance like you did when I raised concerns about many issues.
