Could anyone recommend any cheap eat or drink spots in Tokyo.
And on the whole is the city as expensive as everyone says it is?
Thanks |

| There are cheap places literally everywhere. No, it is not as expensive as everybody says it is, unless you want it to be. |

Buy your lunch at convenience stores.
Unlike Korea, 7/11, Family Mart, etc., have a GREAT selection of ready-made meals that are well-priced. Always changing, too. |

| Yeah, Lawson's made a huge deal out of how all their bentos were fresh (made with fresh ingredients). I can't say if it was true, but I am pretty sure it was. Their stuff was usually pretty good (a bit better than Family Mart). |

Cheap food can be found anywhere. As mentioned, you can get by just by eating at Lawsons. The food is okay and reasonably priced with good choices.
And yes, there seems to be the myth that Tokyo can only be possible if you spend a ton of coin to do it. I disagree.
Not only Lawsons meals, but You can also eat "tachi-gyuu" or the udon noodle stands in the stations for quite cheap. There are lots of little ramen noodle and gyoza dumpling shops that are also reasonably priced. |

| Family Mart friedo chickin! best fried chicken in town, 2 pieces of that and a tall can of Suntory Malts, ahhh the memories..... For very resonably priced bbq, head to a Gyu-Kaku restaurant. Roppongi is a sleazy sh*thole. Great bars in Shinjuku and Ikebukuro. Pick up a Metropolis magazine when you're there. |

Japanese fast food is the best I've come across.
Yoshinoyo, Mos Burger and Beard Papas are excellent and affordable.
Japanese beer is marked up in the bars (from memory it was about 250 yen from familymart but 700 yen in the pub) but it's quality, Yebisu is one of the best beers I've had, haven't been able to come across outside of Japan alas. |

Japan is good for beers. Nice selection of beers in the convenience stores. They try to change it up when a new season rolls around, experimenting with new brews. Yebisu is pretty good beer.
Taiwan, unfortunately, is a lost fuggin cause when it comes to beer. BORING. They have a narrow selection of beers in the corner stores and never experiment. Plus the beers brewed here are crap. |
