My future employer (a reputable university) told me that I will be granted an E-1 visa--what does this mean, exactly? When do I get it (upon arrival, before, or arriving and leaving, so therefore "after")? Moreover, what allowances does it provide? Can I work elsewhere? Is it multi-entry?

Again, Im new, so your patience is appreciated...

E1 is for schools of higher learning......not hagwons or public schools....universities.
I have an E1.
Multi entry....that's for you to apply for when getting your visa....on the application for a visa...it will state...single or multi entry or something along those lines.
Visa's are stamped in your passport from the korean embassy.....not from within korea.
Work elsewhere? With permission on the man of course....and stamped in your passport.
Moreover, what allowances does it provide?
It's the same as an E2....just for universities however.....higher status in someways....but in korea....status is everything. Many teachers have just as much grief at universities as hogwons.
