I went to MokDong immigration today and was surprised to see that there was only 3 people there other than myself at 9:15. In the past if I got there after 9:00 there were no seats available.

Anyhow, you can now make a reservation on the immigration web site. My wife did that and we got to talk to the guy at our designated time of 9:20 no problems. We were going to apply for the F5 visa but forgot to bring a copy of our housing contract so I'll be going back next week, of course I'll make an appointment just in case it's busy.

appointments, no more insane waits.

The Korean staff at my school are kind enough to make appointments for me when I plan on going, just get someone there to do it.

Appointments are definitely the way to go. I've been doing that since my wife discovered it was actually possible. However, it still doesn't stop the occasional ajeossi from just walking up to the appointment only counter and making the clerk do what he wants.

They're getting better at telling them to go get a number though. When I first came to Korea Mokdong immigration allowed any middle-aged Korean to just walk in off the street and stroll up to the counter.

They added a second office for northern Seoul. It's eased up traffic big time.

I did it at Incheon immigration too.

I went there, and it was full of so many foreigners, me being the only white guy. Some looked as if they'd been waiting for hours.
