I have a Vietnamese friend who wants to teach english in korea
I told him he might have a hard time since he is not white
but he still wants to give it a shot
I know filipinos are somewhat looked down on
and that even korean americans can have a hard time finding jobs teaching english
does anyone know what the korean attitude toward vietnamese is like in general?
he thinks maybe he can find a job teaching vietnamese
is there any demand for this at all?
i don't really think so, but maybe at a university or somthing?
anyway
i'd just like to hear any one else's thoughts on this
thanks |

Just one question. Is your friend from Vietnam, or are they from an English country? I don't think there is anyway they would hire somebody from Vietnam to teach English. It is illegal, and even still I don't think they would do it.
If they are from an English country, then they will be able to get a job here. I know one Vietnamese-American guy. I even think there is a Vietnamese-(whatever country) girl on this website.
As far as teaching Vietnamese, I really, really doubt there is any job for him/her. There are tonnes of Vietnamese people already here that could teach Vietnamese. |

I really thought you meant a Vietnamese person, from Vietnam, which is why I thought it was a really strange question to be asking, but thanks for clearing it up. |

I know there are two universities where they teach Vietnamese in Korea.
한국 외국어 대학교 베트남어과
http://www.vietnamese.or.kr
부산 외국어 대학교 베트남어과
http://home.pufs.ac.kr/~vietnam
And I found this hagwon where you can learn Vietnamese.
http://www.hoaiviet.co.kr
Maybe your friend will be able to find his position to teach Vietnamese if he knows where to look at. |
