Ok.am able nough to understand some bits of a conversation about me today..little do they know, he he. i get about 1 word in 10..
so it went like this..
"won ho mi" (native speaker)....blah blah..."chomeh" ( at first)..."obsulteh" (is not)..."tuksong a ban" (advanced class)..."chongshin" (mind)..."issimyeonun (if it is)...Ink-i-eh" (popular).
So i'm still at a loss, but I think its all good... |

Everyone in my office discussed my pierced nose for about 10 minutes in the staff room today (in Korean). I only understood a little of it, but they all were well aware that I knew they were talking about me, so it wasn't anything malicious. Just sort of a "I can't believe she would do such a thing! Wouldn't it hurt?" kind of conversation. |

I really don't care what they're saying about me. I can pick out maybe one word in 20, but escaping office gosip is one of the GOOD thngs about working here. |

Exactly.
Think about office gossip in the US/Canada/England- it's all blah, blah, blah about who is havingsex/toofat/thinksshesbetterthaneveryoneelse/whosgay/whosdrinkingtoomuch/whoscheatingontheirwife- who needs that?
If they're talking about me, then it's probably some BS, anyway. If they can teach ENGLISH better than me, then let's see them do the job. |

Yes. Which is why they usually leave the room when they want to talk about me. |

The Korean staff (the women) in my school spend most of their time whining about how fat they are (they're anything but) or about how hungry they are. They go on in Korean about how they lost 10 pounds in one week by eating jook. Or when the annoying foreign teacher is talking loudly, like he always does, they say "its so loud". Its true. But then they'll start chatting way louder about things unrelated to school and its apparently no problem. Either that or they'll go through every single ring tone they have. |

usually it's something immensely trivial:
스핀 씨 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 안추워 ㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎ
or complimentary:
스핀이 우리말을 잘해ㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎ
ugh! Headphones and music, peeps, headphones and music. |

I will NEVER let them know how much I understand . it's not much, but they think i don't understand a word. They discuss me in front of me, and I'm glad of it. |
