My one year F2 visa is about to expire. (Very conveniently BTW, I was reminded through text message of this upcoming event....nice added touch by the immig office.)
Anyway, has anyone renewed theirs recently? I know there have been changes, especially in the past year, so I'm not completely confident in archived posts regarding renewals.
Required documents, fees and timeframes would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I'll be off to the Incheon office. I know how different offices 'sometimes' use varying procedures.
Thanks in advance. |

Mine is until December of next year (two years). I plan to get my F5 then. Really kind of crazy, as I should have had an F2 years ago (I've been in Korea for the past eighteen years straight), but I never paid attention to changes in immigration policies until about three years ago. I'd be interested to know of any recent changes, too. |

I recently applied for the F-5 and the lady at the desk asked me if I could speak Korean fluently and I said no and she said I don't qualify.
any other F-5 holders have the same experience? |

She is screwing with you...they don't want to give it out. I don't speak Korean well and I got it. There isn't a language requirement. Go back to a different person and just apply...don't ask them and push to apply. |

so what do you need to renew the f2? do you need all the "proof" of apartment contract and employment on behalf of the spouse like when you first apply or is it just a routine check-in extension kinda thing? in other words, do we need to bring all of the documents and papers once again for them to pore over before they allow for a renewal? |

If you are working for the same school another year its simple. Take contract and all the school documents you had before. You will not need your diploma. All i had to do was sign an affadavit. If you change schools...it might be different. Take boss with you. |

First time applications: Spouse must be employed at the time, or does the 30,000,000 cover things? |

Problem with this board: people who havent a clue, chiming in.
F2 is NOT E2. It has zilch all to do with your school, contract or boss. |

I just got the notice today, too. I searched the FAQ section, and there was no info. about reapplying. Do I need to bring my husband down to immi. again? Man, I hate going to immi. I feel like one of the unwashed masses that passed through Ellis Island (oh well, good chance to catch up on my reading and people watch~).... Anybody know what documents are required? |

The immigration website.. takes the guesswork out of it. (and the false / uninformed opinions of some dave's posters out of it) |

I recently renewed. I went down there sans ball-and-chain. I did need to bring some kind of form that the wife had prepared in advance. Check the immi website or have your S.O. call and ask. |
