I was there for few weeks a few years ago. Did a little teaching English to a Tibetan monk I met there.

It seemed very nice when I first arrived, but like most places, has its underbelly. Many of the Tibetans are looking for a free ride, and who can blame them? Tibetans in India are not allowed to own land, so they will always be at the mercy of landlords.

Many are sponsored, and spend time attempting to get more from the tourists. I talked to three monks who will at times get into full kit for that part, then then cool western clothes so they can then get into the pants of the tourist girls.

I liked the guys and spent time hanging out with them. Some of them were having a rollicking good time. Smile
