Does anyone know of a good cost of living link? One that is updated regularly and accurate for Seoul. If possible, one that compares prices between Korea and Japan/US/China.
This has probably been asked before, but I have NO free-time. Thanks very much.[/b] |

enough free time to post.
Living expenses depend on the person....do you eat nothing but meat? nothing but fruit? are you an alcoholic, and need to drink 6 nights a week? do you cook at home or eat out? Can you live off of PB and J sandwiches? or do you need tuna, or albacore....
THe question is too vague..... |

I am looking for staple items and those that will give me a relative idea of expenses.
By the way, I'm doing like 4 different things right now, be lucky to get 4 hours sleep before my next day at work. So yeah, kinda short on time.
Don't help if you don't want to. All others, every good answer I get saves me hours. Thank you very much! |

Wow that's harsh! I hope that's not how you deal with students. A cost index should be a common thing to find (I just wanted a couple reliable ones). It doesn't necessarily have to be compared to anything, I just asked for one with other countries listed as well. Staple items are things like bread, rice, milk, meats, vegetables, oats, etc. A cost index may include other things such as clothing, electronics, and others.
Darkness I don't think you were trying to help, but thank you if you were. |

Take it easy query29.............I think Darkness was trying to help. Reason being that expenses in Korea can be as cheap or as expensive as you want them to be. You can eat out at a restaurant for 4 dollars or 40 dollars. And neither might seem an awful lot of difference foodwise. It depends on the location.
What seems to be a truism for most teachers in Korea is that you can bank at least half your pay. And still live pretty well. Don't try to find absolute figures for expenses in Korea. Just accept that you should save a lot more money than you would in most countries. |

OK, I will have a go at this if no-one objects too much!
It looks like I will be on 'newbie' wages of 2-2.1 million won
a month with my free flat.
So I don't smoke and drink, I don't take drugs but I will want
to use a decent gym. I might want to box again or learn Tae
Kwon Do.
I'll probably want a Korean girlfriend... she will be hot of course
because the quality Bejarano mark of approval is worldwide.
I eat meat but I have never been a big steak fan anyway. I like
pork, chicken and lamb.
I'll prbably adopt a local football team and go and watch some
erm 'soccer' every so often!
Cheers for any feedback! |
