My Korean friend couldn't either. I have cable, but all I get is a blue screen when I hit the TV/VCR button. I've gone all through the on screen menu, but nothing gets it so that I can flip through the channels with the TV on channel 3 and my VCR controling things. Anybody have a vcr like this one?
BTW, is there anywhere I can get a TV schedule in English? I can't ever catch the movies from the beginning. Is cable in Korea the same everywhere, or is every city different, like in the states?

You probably need to click a button labeled ܺԷ (may be on TV remote) this will toggle the various video in/out options....

to veiw the Korean click on view (bogi) encoding (same in korean) and then korean (hankook-o)

Didn't work with the TV control. If anybody has way too much time on their hands here's the link for the manual in pdf form.

regarding cable, the channels are different depending on what gu you are in.

If you have the manual in PDF form why not print it up and then show it to a different Korean friend who can help you. what about asking your school director or a Korean teacher.

Try putting your television tuner on 4 instead of 3. If that doesn't do it, make sure you have the cable running into the 입력 port on the back of the VCR, and the short cable running from the 출력 port on the back of the VCR to the 입력 port on the television.
