Hi Dev,
I prepare most of my own food at home, but I'm not into heavy-duty gourmet cooking ... I'm much too lazy for that, and besides, I don't have the kitchen space. You might want to take a look at Dr. Fuhrman's site and try a few of the recipes in Eat to Live if you're interested in losing weight in a healthy way. I think organic canned beans without any additives are available in most department store basements, and I definitely find it more convenient to use those than to worry about cooking beans from scratch. They have organic tomato sauces too, and you can get spices either from health food stores or from that foreign food place in Itaewon to make the sauce taste more interesting.

I think the most important thing to remember is to eat enough fruit and vegetables ... here in Japan the supermarkets often have pre-shredded and pre-washed lettuce and cabbage, which makes life a lot easier for lazy people like me. I also find hydroponic lettuce easier to rinse off than regular lettuce ... I guess department stores in Korea would have that too, but I'm not sure. I was really salad-deprived in Korea and I'm trying to make up for it now by aiming for a salad a day with two hydroponic lettuces in each one ... but sometimes I'm still too lazy.
IMO, fruit makes a good breakfast or lunch and adding a few nuts may help make it more filling. Also, if you can get those nice roasted sweet potatoes from street vendors, you'll have a delicious, filling snack without a lot of fat or added sugar. You'll have to avoid sugar, white flour and oily foods ... something I don't always manage to do, but I'm doing better than before.
Best of luck and I hope this helps ... |
