Nope unless your contract says otherwise. The only reason a school would offer 11 months would be to get out of paying the bonus. |

Maybe you can re-sign with the school and get your severance. |

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I have a similar question.....
I am into my second year at my hagwon. Upon re-signing, I was given a one month unpaid vacation. So technically, by the time my contract is up I would have worked and been paid for only 11 months. My boss has asked me to stay an extra month to make up for the month I missed, but my parents are planning on visiting at the end of my contract and they cant hold off a whole extra month because of their own work commitments.
So, am I still entitled to severance.... if so, what are my chances of getting it?? After my first year I was given severance pay but my boss made out like he was being very generous and that it wasnt usual to pay it. |

From http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/expatriate_seoul/69030
"The employee must have been employed for a minimum of 365 days (continuous) after which one months severance pay (calculated on the average salary of the previous 3 months) must be paid.
For each month above 365 days employment the employee is entitled to a pro rata severance pay. That is, severance pay accrues on a monthly basis after one year." |
