Does anyone here know where it can be bought in Seoul... or even around Seoul?

I mean, not in a bar or Cafe, I want to buy some bottles that I can bring home.

I called the place where I tried it, but they told me they got it from a wholesaler and wouldn't tell me how to get in touch with the person because he won't deal with individuals... they said. They told me I could buy bottles from them, but they sell it 5,500 won each, so I'd rather buy it from a store.

I went to Hyunday Department Store and I tried Kaja, but no luck with either one. So! I'm hoping someone here can help me out.

Yes, I've seen it, and just recently. Hadn't known it existed. I found it in a Homeplus lined up with the other imported, bottled beers and wondered WTF! It's cheap and has a fine taste, like an imported beer. Better than South Korean beer. But because, I presume, it's not popular with South Koreans it seems to have sat on the shelf too long and become 'super hi test' beer, continuing to ferment in the bottle. That's just the batch at this particular Homplus of which I speak Very Happy

Well South Korean beer is basically a knockoff of American beer, so you can count on those North Koreans to avoid this horrible imperial froth.

Taedonggang is a quality brew - only 2,200 won per 500ml bottle in Homeplus. It may then be possible to get a further discount by dealing with the wholesalers via the number on the bottle. Tastes quite unlike any beer I've tried before, so it makes a good present and occasional drink. Compared to a South Korean beer, well - who compares any beer with a South Korean beer? No contest.

Got mine and my soju from the Pyongyang Soju factory from the observation post north of Dajin, above Sokcho.
They have a huge selection of D.P.R.K. booze.
