What do you think of these videos? You can preview some of the videos at www.bumfights.com.
The producers travel the U.S. and pay homeless people to perform such acts as fighting, simulation of sexual acts with other homeless people, pulling teeth with plyers etc. They videotape it and sell it. |

not a fan of the bumfights videos, they're not my cup of tea so to speak. But at the same time, the dudes who started it are prolly raking in the dough, therefore,

| Where I'm from a bum-fight, or bum-of-war, happens on a trampoline between two elementary school aged kids. '1-2-3-4, I declare a bum-of-war!'. Great fun, until the smaller kid lands a split-second before the bigger kid and goes flying off to break his tail-bone on the ground. |

100% of bums are aware enough to know their legal rights when they sign a release form.
it takes a really out-of-sorts individual to "unknowingly" sign his rights away to be in a film such as bumfights.
those sort of out-of-sorts folks generally say "GO AWAY I'M TRYING TO CONTACT THE MOTHER SHIP" when a stranger with a video camera talks to them. |

You don't know much about addiction and desperation, do you? Both will lead a person down some pretty bad roads.
The guy who makes bum fights is a piece of trash. Dr.Phil is the same, but on TV and wealthy. He invites the guy on his show and then sanctimoniously kicks him off to make himself look good. Ah well...anyone who got their start on Oprah just can't be good. |

Most homeless in western countries are suffering from some form of mental illness. Exploitation is the correct word.
Time like these are when I would prefer to suspend my disbelief, and believe in some sort of devine post death retribution. However I dont, so I hope some lawyer comes along and pro bono represents one of these guys....
