Does anyone know how I could find a reliable childcare provider/babysitter in the Haebongchon area?
Starting in March we will need a regular caregiver to work Monday - Friday, from 3pm until 8pm in our home. The child's first language is Korean and he can speak an intermediate level of English. The caregiver will also be responsible for a very adorable puppy in the household 
If anyone has any experience or suggestions with this issue, please let me know. We are moving into Seoul from another town so we don't have the luxury of having grandma and grandpa for babysitters anymore  |

| Hannam Market and Nashville's Pub (both very close to your new home) have bulletin boards full of people looking to do babysitting and housework. Most of them speak English, since those places are geared toward foreigners. Of course, since we're talking about your child, it would be good to find someone through a good reference. |

| you could also look around for a 놀이방 which is more of a daycare. Both of my kids have been going/gone to one in our apartment complex for about 300,000/month. good luck |

THe one we use is open till 8 but we usually pick our son up by 5:30. I do not live in the Itaewon area, but if you look around I'm sure you'll find one. |

Do you pay 300 per child? That sounds like a good deal- I thought they were more expensive than that. |

Do you pay 300 per child? That sounds like a good deal- I thought they were more expensive than that. |
yes, though our daughter now goes to a Kindergarten and that costs more. |

(놀이방) These are often dirty and nasty. One of these lost my son and left him wandering outside for hours when he was 3 years old. He found his way to our house and was crying for me..I heard him as I was coming to get him. I almost killed them. Be very careful of these places.
They are always on the news. If you know Korean then you can find the babysitting service company. They send people to the house to watch the children. They are checked by the company and usually better. |

The 놀이방 by us is fantastic and they call if they ever need anything and to let us know if he is sick or whatever.
The babysitting services are equally in the news especially with parents having hidden cameras showing kids getting beat, fed drugs in order to sleep as much as possible or ignored.
in all cases caveat emptor. |
