I'm wondering if anyone can recommend an 100 hour online tefl certificate course?
I'd like to do one over the winter vacation (1 month). I've been searching the net and there are SO many to choose from. What should I be looking for curriculum wise? I've seen some that have tutor support and some that don't. Is tutor support really worth another $150? I have a feeling I probably wouldn't use it.
Here's what I'm after exactly:
-100 hour/120 hour (doable in about one month). 100 hour is still the standard that public schools recognize right?
-I don't want to spend a lot but, at the same time, I don't want to cheap out and take a useless course. I'm looking for cost/material balance
-I don't care about a practicum
Any info is much appreciated. |

I am thinking of doing one myself...........not sure which one I will do though.
Maybe something from telfintl.com or from 1 to 1, both of them advertise on this site. |

I second this and I also heard that public schools in some areas weren't accepting an online TESOL course.
So, I'd check with the education office for the area you want to work in.

Online TEFL certificates, even if you find a reputable one, are purely for increasing your knowledge of TEFL. They are practically useless career wise (and if you managed to actually use it to bump up your salary, the chances are you fudged something or they didn't understand or check what it was). I am not saying they are useless. It's great for any teacher to try to upgrade their skills or knowledge. But don't do an online one purely for monetary gain. It "probably" won't work out (I know a few people where it did work out, just don't expect it to). |
