You ever notice this? In any market or department store you can find a whole long row dedicated to male underwear with an endless variety of underwear - - styles, designs, materials. Go over to the daily toiletries section and you primarily find "one size fits all" 5-packs, family-packs of toothbrushes!

In the west, it's about exactly opposite; some basic variety in male underwear; plenty of variety in toothbrushes!

Sort of telling isn't it? In both directions.

( If you're a newbie on your way here: bring your favoriite tootbrush and replacements for the time you'll be here! It's tough finding a good selection of them here. If you're already here, get them the next time you're overseas. I buy my toothbrushes when I'm on a trip in Asia. You can find the full range in places like Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur or Singapore - - - where they understand that people have individual preferences for toothbrushes - - slim, wide, hard, soft, full, compact - - and brands Oral B, Reach, Colgate, Braun, Crest, etc. )

Yeah - great variety of underwear - pity is - most stores largest size on underwear (mens) is only 95-100/ - 105 if you're lucky.....

"In the west" stores have a larger variety of sizes...........

I often wonder what "the larger men" in korea do for underwear??

Hmm, never thought about that problem. Good point. I've never bought underwear here; bring my own of those too.

Yeah I wonder about that too. There are a whole lot of Korean men in their 30s and 40s who are much much larger than a size 105, yet that's about the largest size I ever see. I went clothes shopping last week (pity me!) and all the pants were like 32 or 33 inch waists. How do the more.. rotund fellas get around here? That's what I wanna know. They can't ALL be shopping in Itaewon.

I've been wondering this for 5 years. 105 seems to the biggest size in all the stores but 105 would fit a very average-sized Korean man. Where's the 110 and 115 sizes? Maybe all the 110 stuff gets sold as soon as it's put out?

There are about two hundred million tailors in Korea that they seem to go to. Also, there are "Big and Tall" stores. The clothing they have there look exactly like what you'd see on an ajushi.

I don't know what you are talking about. I see tonnes of variety with toothbrushes. Yeah, not in every store, but if you go to a E-Mart or whatever type store, they have lots of kinds to choose from. I get the exact same toothbrushes here that I used in Canada. You can get all the good Oral-B toothbrushes here too.

Perhaps I'm a bit more picky. You can get some, but not all, Oral-B toothbrushes here. You won't find the range that you find like, say, in the states (or in S.E. Asia, for that matter), where you can fine tune your choice. ( My particular favorite is a slim, compact, soft bristle REACH, with the fading color strip that tells you it's time to change, preferably in transparent plastic or blue if not transparent, or a similar Oral-B. Gave up a couple of years ago trying to find a selection that would allow me this much fine tuning. )

Yeah you are right about that. The average grocery store in the US has a huge selection of toothbrushes. It's almost frightening. I don't buy toothbrushes (got my trusty electric Oral-B, yeahhh) but I have noticed the selection here is significantly smaller. That's how anything is in Korea, though. This is the land of limited options.

so funny just thinking about it....

I can just imagine those large size korean guys - standing around nude in a tailors shop - having their package and butt all-sized up with a tape measure - to have their "panties" tailor made.....

NO- really - where do they sell larger than 105" underwear? - I also see many korean men larger than me - and wonder how they manage to squeeze into 105 size......
