Pastors Caught for Faking College Degrees
According to the police, the arrested broker, Shin, established a branch school of an American seminary without the government�s authorization, and gave out degrees after receiving 6 to 10 million won per client.
The clients, usually university professors and pastors, obtained the degrees by simply attending some seminars conducted by the brokers or turning in reports written in Korean though it is an American school.
"We assume that the wrongdoers were stressed out about the high academic backgrounds of their students' or those attending their churches, and tried to fit in with them by getting degrees," a police officer of the department said.
