I KNOW this should be in the technology forum... in fact it is. But since no one is responding there & this is driving me completely mad, I'm appealing to the Off-Topic crowd.
WHY, oh why, can't I access any state.ak.us websites?? It's not just my computer because it's happening at work too. I need to update some info for my student loans.
AAAAAUUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!
help. |

Thanks for the replies everyone.
I have used a proxy & that gets me to the homepages, but I can't log into my account. Actually, I'm not sure if I want to with a proxy because I don't know how that affects the security.
All other state websites work fine... just Alaska's is causing problems. It's odd that some people can access them & others can't. Maybe it's my ISP?
cbc & Smee, what companies do you get your internet through? |

LG Telecom.
I can't get to the site at work, either, but I don't know what internet company it is. |

I'm on KT and I can't access it. It sounds like you might have to actually do it the old fashioned way and contact them directly. |

Alaska...
Not being able to log in through a proxy is a security decision that they have made. Also, they may have simply blocked Korea (or certain companies in Korea) from gaining access as a misinformed attempt at security. It's them blocking access to us. I don't imagine that they will change their security policies for you, however asinine you point them out to be, but they must have to give you another way to access your information. |

I see. Thanks for the input. I'll try calling them tomorrow. |

OK, so I know ya'll were on the edge of your seats wating to hear if this was resolved or not so....
It was!! I finally got in touch with the webmaster and, not surprisingly, they'd blocked all international IP's because of hackers. The good people at the State of Alaska were kind enough to unblock my address.
Way to go Alaska technogeeks!!
