I'll be arriving in Busan in a week and would like to know if the 5+ hour bus is the best mode of transport to Jeonju? I'll have the KTX pass (I'm coming from Fukuoka, Japan) so using the train will be free but it looks like a hassle:
Busan - Daejeon - Iksan - Jeonju
Additionally, I noticed there are 2 different fares for the bus, a deluxe and standard (W19,100 & 12,900). What's the difference? Your help, as always, is greatly appreciated. |

Yeah, unfortunately KTX is only really helpful if you're going from Busan or Mokpo/Gwangju to Seoul. The best way to get almost anywhere else is by bus.
The fare distance has to do with width & comfort of the seats. The cheaper fare is for buses with 4 seats across & the seats usually don't have any kind of leg rest. The more expensive fares are for buses that have 3 seats across so the seats are much wider and you have a leg rest. Essentially, you're paying for more space. It's absolutely worth a couple extra thousand won for me.

Yeah definitely dont take the train
Its too much of a hassle (changing trains) and takes too long
All Koreans that take the busan - jeonju route take the bus
The difference in buses i think is the more expensive one has more leg room, is fancier (but not much), might get a video you wont understand and I think most important it doesnt stop as much as the other one
I never took that bus.....but I have taken the busan-kwangju bus many times |

Take the moreexpensive bus and try to get the seat that is by itself. (Its a 2-aisle-1 config). That way you won't have Adjumma Moses smelling like kimchi, inching in on your space, and eating dried squid while you are trying to sleep. |

Yeah, even though the bus is 5+ hours, it looks like the way to go. Thank for the info everyone. |
