I'm hoping to round up some games. But I want to hear some GENERAL games that could be used with DIFFERENT "target" sentences or vocabulary.
I've been brainstorming on consistently coming up short or making up games that always had some problem with them and I'm hoping y'all could help a brother out.
A game LIKE "Telephone" for example, but ideally something with more educational value: I just mean something general that can be used for different target language.
I have one that I like to use (albeit sparingly):
Students are in groups of 4-6. In the corners of the room (ideally so that each group is the same distance away from the corners) there are pieces of paper. On these pieces of paper are the same sentences: One for each person the in group. On the paper are the target sentences for that unit.
To play:
Each group numbers their students. Student #1 goes to the piece of paper (the one furthest away is how I usually do it) reads and remembers the sentence and returns to his group. This student then dictates the sentence to Student 2# who writes it down...ABSOLUTELY 100% correct.
When student 2# is done, HE goes to the paper and reads the sentence, returns and dictates it to #3. and this repeats till all students have read something.
If the students are lower level reading ability, I'd suggest drawing picture for the papers in the corner which they then have to make a sentence out of (eg: a picture of an apple with a price tag of 800W) or something)
Anyways...more games/activities out there? |
