The link didn't work for me.

I guess this is what is called hard negotiating at the 6 Party Talks going on in Beijing this week.

works for me.

This is such an irresponsible use of power. They work for years to make nuclear weapons on their own but they want help developing nuclear power plants? We (the US) were going to give them nuclear power plants 8 years ago in exchange for not producing nuclear weapons but they just couldn't leave their nuclear program alone long enough to get the nuclear plants.

They want to have their cake and eat it too.

Actually, the US never really had any intention to go through with it and made sure the deal would die. If I understand correctly, Jimmy Carter went to North Korea by himself and basically brokered the deal without having received the mandate from the US government to do so. They had no choice but to go through with it, which they did begrudgingly, in order to save face with North Korea.

True, Clinton was planning on getting rid of North Korea and had military plans drawn up that were 3 days away from being launched at that time.

Incorrect, gents. Other threads have covered this. Carter and Clinton have both revealed that Carter, in fact, went at Clinton's behest. They stated differently in public at the time for political reasons.

Do you think Clinton, would have as they say now was in the works, really attacked and subsequently invaded North Korea as many have said now had Carter failed?

Of course, but it also makes it easier for them to scrap the deal when the time is right.

Update-- the talks have finished with no progress. Negotiators at the talks did not rule out further tests.
