I have yet to see any other foreigners here and I have no idea how to get anywhere and I know no Japanese at all. Is there anyone else here right now? |

I was there from last Friday to yesterday, 22 - 24th.
Hakata station is my favorite spot. Lots of shops and food. There is the Jr shopping center off of the Hakata gate. A Starbucks to the left off the opposite side.
There is a decent bookstore and cd / dvd place in the Jr department store. |

Head to Tenjin via the subway. Hakata is a commercial as in big business, where as Tenjin is retail and entertainment. Look for a Fukuoka Now magazine at info desks (Hakata for example) for a list of the bars. Oyafuko dori has a lot of bars for foreigners. Tenjin is loaded with foreigners so just ask any of them for directions to entertainment. I'd recommend Cottonfield's in Nakasu. For Y2000, you can get the nomidodai course which is free service from the beer cooler next to the wall and a snack (the fried taco-mexican-is great). The cooler is filled with import bottles from around the world. It's my favorite and I'll be there tomorrow night! |
