Today I was taking the subway to work. It was pretty crowded and there was nowhere to sit. A woman got out of a seat nearby and got off the train. There was another guy standing in front of the seat, but he didn't sit. I wasn't sure what to do, and then some woman sat down in it.

Well hell, if the guy wasn't going to sit down, he should've just let me have it. I asked the woman nicely to let me sit there, but she ignored me. So I told her "I've had it up to here with you and your racist stupid country!" Everyone else on the subway looked awkward. The man who was standing tried to calm me down, but he'd caused the problem in the first place.

I ask that everyone stand together and show Korea that we won't put up with being second-class citizens. Refuse to purchase anything from the big three companies, Samsung, LG, and Hyundai. Show them that we're tired of their sick racism.

Why didn't you sit down before the lady.......doesn't sound like racism to me. She had no obligation to get up and give you the seat, she saw a seat and took it. I think you have a problem with cities and crowded places.

I don't think anyone is going to join you in your boycott. I never really feel like a second class citizen, I feel like a minoroity sometimes but I am. I think you should calm down.

I can't agree more with this advice. RACETRAITOR, you're just having trouble making the normal (but difficult) adjustments to life in Korea. Trust me, that's to be expected. It's a tough transition for some of us. I mean, just look at Periwinkle.

It's never easy moving from one's own language, culture, cuisine comfort zone to another. And it's also human nature to want to lash out the way you are. But it's best not to. Anyway, always remember that even though you can't see them now, life as a foreigner in Korea does have its rewards, as well as its nasty kicks in the ass.

This is one of my favorite games to play on long subway rides:

a. Wait till someone gets up and no one sits down.
b. Move stealthily in that direction.
c. When you see an ajumma make her play for the seat,
d. LUNGE for it yourself. Anyone with half-way decent reflexes can beat an ajumma.
e. Duck when her claws come for your eyes.

It IS a racist stupid country when we don't get first pick of subway seats, but even better proof: Many of THEM won't sit next to us.

I'm utterly perplexed. How exactly did the incident constitute racism? The only one who showed any racist behaviour is you. Clown.
