A new Kyobo just opened near SeoHyun Station. It's at the end of the row of outside shops of the plaza, if you take Exit 6 out of the Samsung Plaza Building. (That's the side that has the KFC just out the door.) It's down at the end where the Starbucks is. It's across the street in a newly built and not quite finished new building; it's in the basement, with an entrance to the right side of the building.
If you're driving, it's past the plaza (with the SSP on your left), past the CINUS theater (on your right) to the corner where the new FedEx Kinkos opened a while back. Turn left and it's a new building that is about 50 meters down, just where the road curves back around to the other side of Samsung Plaza in the other direction (before you would pass under the overpass walkway).
Seem to be open late. I was by there last night around 10:20 and they were open. It's about 1/2 the size of the downtown Kyobo Bookstore, books-wise; about the same size as the downtown one, stationery-wise.
By the way: There's a new Baskin Robbins "Cafe" shop out Exit 6 of Samsung Plaza / SeoHyun. That means there are now 3 Baskins Robbins within that shopping center: that one, one in the supermarket, and one out the other end exit (where the Seohyun bookstore is). Probably the highest concentration of Baskin Robbins in Korea ! Do they like the BR ice cream that much ?! (At the same time, a Haagen-Daz shop in the shopping center closed early this year. )

I went to the opening last weekend and spent a bucket-load at the science center. The science center is down the back left of the stationery section- near the English section.
For first timers to the area, the OP's directions were good. For anyone who knows the Bundang area- it's in the basement of the old Kim's Club Building.
Now, if they would just bring back 'Zoo-Zoo City' to Bundang.... |

Wow, Bundang is really developing into a Yuppie paradise.
I hope this will attract more young people (20-30's) instead of families to move to the area. |

I think you're right on this, at least for the SeoHyeon area. I've seen over the three years I've been in the area it change from an aujulshi hangout to a pretty young crowd. Case in point: "Rose Tattoo" , an aujulshi night club kind of place just near Samsung Plaza; closed a couple of months ago, renovated, and re-opened last week as a Hip Hop Club called "Clique", supposedly featuring some of Korea's top Hip Hop DJ's and artists. ( Kind of funny seeing those Korean dudes in hoods outside the place spitting out bits and pieces of cool English over loudspeakers as try to pull in a crowd. )
Several other aujulshi places in the area have made similar makeovers to a younger crowd's place. Even the restaurants have become less family-like and more chic. |
