I teach in a public school and I frankly hate the fact they teach Hi and Hello..

I don't know about you but I NEVER ever used Hi or Hello as greeting back home..

Hi and Hello were more like inquiry based greeting.. Such as in going into a shop and seeing no one at the check out counter.

I also used Hi and Hello on a phone but never in basic face to face conversation.

Any who I managed to teach most of my grade 5's Good Morning and Good Afternoon. Its bliss having to hear that greeting over the retarted Hi and Hello.

Yeah, When I see people on the street, I never say Hi or Hello. I always say, "K-zizzle, what's up my nigger?"

Well...I taught mine "Hey" "What's up" and "S'up"

I think I should teach them, "Yo s'up schrilla...let's get real for schizzle!"

I don't say hi....but I'm from Abjerkazamajam....

I agree with the worn-outness of "Hi."
I think its a cop out Koreans use, just a simple one syllable that relieves them from any cognitive thinking when they see a foreigner.

Erm..."hi" is a pretty standard greeting, you dropkicks. So is "hello". Or are those normal greetings just too uncool for you.

And exactly how is that "score 1 for the waegook"?

"Hi" and "hello" are way cool, just too cool for school. When I'm walking down the hall, and I see students do a full-on bow and "annyeongashimnika" to the Korean teacher ahead of me, and then a giggle, wave and "hi" to me, I cry foul.

I disagree with you on the monosyllabicity of the Korean pronunciation of that word. It is never "hi". It's always ha-ee.

Do you like the phucking Hi and Hellos you get on the street. People yelling at you.. Good morning and Afternoon at least is the Equivalent of Anyong Haseyo were as Hi and Hello is equivalent to yobuseyo or Anyong.

As a teacher I do like to see some respect just like my KT partners get.
