I am working on a budget for food. Is spending 300,000 won excessive?

I put 300,000 down for food. 150,000 for going out and entertainment.

What do others spend? I am talking about those who watch their money?

How do you budget? Do you write down everything you spend? Do you

have any tips? Thanks in advance.

i don't budget, but i spend almost the same amount every month, and i intentionally try to keep the amount of money i spend low. i spend about 100,000 a month on groceries/alcohol i buy at the supermarket and another 150,000 a month eating/drinking out. when i go to restaurants, i eat almost exclusively korean food (with the exception of choi's tacos, of course), plus i cook a lot, so that helps keep costs down.

oh yeah, costco trips are really hard on my pocketbook, so i haven't been going lately. if i went there regularly i would spend more than 300,000 a month at grocery stores.

i'm supporting my wife at home, so it's pretty easy. the day i get paid, i send as much as i can home, and whatever's left, is my pocket money. i usually leave myself about 700,000 to cover all utilities, food, entertainment, transit, and any other miscellaneous expenses. i usually end the month with about 100,000 left over. my entertainment expenses usually include one night a week of hard partying, and 2 or 3 pricey cab rides a month. food is low, i cook at home for the most part and bring my lunch with me to work. i do like to hit the foreign food markets in itaewon about once a month, maybe dropping about 50,000 on hard-to-find goods.
i could be doing it on less, but i like certain food items, i like to party on the weekends, and i have certain aesthetic needs that i'm not willing to compromise on.
i'm such a princess.
